It is obvious that those jostling for the presidential ticket on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party in Nigeria are of the North and South extraction. Therefore, the party is looking in the direction of the Western part of the country to produce the vice president.
It was some time ago rumoured that the APC was going to present Gen. Muhammed Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential and vice presidential candidate respectively for the 2015 presidential election. This combination however credible it looked elicited varied reactions from the Nigerian public. While some people focused on the abilities of the candidates, other were concerned about the Muslim-Muslim Ticket which they said would not go down well for secular nation like Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had on several occasions in the past described the APC as a Muslim party whose sole aim is to Islamise Nigeria and Nigerians.
Apparently bowing to superior argument and wanting to prove the ruling PDP wrong, the APC has decided to go for a Christian as running mate should one of the Muslims contesting for the presidential ticket emerge winner of the party’s primary.
Insidersaccount.com gathered that the odds of the choice of running mate favours renowned legal luminary, Ayo Osibajo who also happens to be a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, which arguably has the largest population of worshippers in Nigeria. Should he emerge as running mate to whoever secures the party’s ticket, one need not ask where the votes of member of RCCG will go.
