One of Nigeria’s Reggae finest, Majekodunmi Fasheke staged named Majek Fashek, who in the last few years has been a shadow of his vibrant self, seems to have got his grooves back. It would be recalled that the once celebrated Reggae act, whose popular single ‘Send Down The Rain’ was a hit across the globe given the mystical power behind the song. It is on records that each time the fine Reggae artiste performed the song on stage, the cloud listened and poured down showers of rain.
His sojourn in the United Stated was his greatest undoing; as the talented Reggae star dubbed the next Bob Marley, after a long spell in the States, returned home a ‘crack head’. It took Some well meaning Nigerians with kind heart to come to his rescue by offering spiritual and medical therapy, part of which was his rehabilitation therapy at a rehab centre in Abuja.
The rehab therapy seems to have worked perfectly on the never say die musician, who was at his best at the AY live Easter comedy concert where he thrilled the frenzy audience with his familiar and new Reggae hits. While he owned the stage, Majek threw a jibe at former President Ebele Jonathan, when referred to him as a fool to the bewilderment of the audience. He also redirected the notion of sitting President Buhari when he said “Nigeria’s problem was not corruption but poverty. His utterances all through that night was straight and precise.
