APC’s 2015 Victory In Lagos State Threatened
The Ultra-ego status enjoyed by the man many political watchers address as the Jagaban and largely referred as Asiwaju of Yoruba Land, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu seems threatened by a man he groomed politically who undoubtedly has become a force in the political circle given his achievements in the development of Lagos State, Governor Babatunde Raji
Fashola (SAN). Given the simple definition of politics as the management of state resources, the duo are on the different side of the divide as to who would manage the resources of the state when the incumbent vacates office in 2015.
While Asiwaju favours a former Accountant General of the state, AMBODE, Fashola on the other hand pitches his tent with Hamzat. Though the tide seemingly fovours Ambode, given the level of support he has garnered from prominent Lagosians since he signified his interest in vying for the exalted office. The likes of Oba of Lagos, federal lawmakers, large chunk of state lawmakers, Local government chairmen, and market women…have all expressed their unwavering support for the gentleman.
Having weighed the level of support enjoyed by Ambode, especially from the council bosses, Fashola in his shrewdness has since retired the L.G Chairmen at the expiration of their tenure to break the power behind their loyalty to Asiwaju and Ambode. In their stead, he has appointed Council Managers to replace them. However, this development did not go down well with the Jagaban who is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his candidate grabs the party’s ticket so as maintain his control of the state. The reason for this is not farfetched; it is to avoid reoccurrence of what happened in Kwara State between Sen. Bukolola Saraki and his late father, Olusola Saraki. Where the later dwarf his father and political mentor’s long standing political supremacy in Kwara State upon their political differences.
